Warehouse Process Type
The warehouse process type use to perform the above activities. The warehouse process type has various effects on the creation of warehouse tasks.
You assign various process types to your processes in the warehouse.
The warehouse process type provides the information required by SAP Extended Warehouse Management for Put away, stock removals, or internal stock transfers and stock postings.
We need to define warehouse process type for each warehouse number.
A warehouse process type is used to define the activity or movement of each process in a warehouse. It deals with each warehouse process like goods receipt, deconsolidation, packaging, goods issue and is assigned to each warehouse task document.
Warehouse Process Type
All warehouse process types are further grouped into warehouse process categories. Warehouse in to warehouse process categories. Warehouse process categories are used to define the goods movement in a warehouse.
There are different warehouse process categories that are predefined in the EWM system.

Put-away
Internal Movement

Warehouse Process Type Determination
In this Customizing activity, you the configure automatic determination of the warehouse process type.
When Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) creates a warehouse request, it automatically determines the warehouse process type.
If you are using the embedded EWM in SAP S/4HANA, the system also determines a warehouse process type for special processes, such as for goods receipt with synchronous goods movement in Inventory Management and EWM.
Prerequisites
You have defined warehouse process types.
You must define at least the warehouse number.
You can also use the following determination criteria:
The document type ( Define Document Types for Inbound Delivery Process, Define Document Types for Outbound Delivery Process)
The item type ( Define Item Types for Inbound Delivery Process, Define Item Types for Outbound Delivery Process)
The delivery priority ( Define Delivery Priority)
The control indicator for determining warehouse process types
The process indicator to additionally differentiate processes, for example, to find appropriate warehouse process types for a merchandise distribution process.
Warehouse Process Type Determination for Warehouse Requests
In the case of a warehouse request to be created, the system determines the warehouse process type according to the following logic, which means that you do not always have to make entries in all the fields.
Assumptions for the access logic for warehouse process type determination:
The item type is more specific than the document type.
The processing priority is more specific than the control indicator
EWM always takes account of the warehouse number, because you define process types specifically for each warehouse number.
The table is accessed as follows:
a) All key fields are specified.
b) Document type, item type, and processing priority are specified.
c) Document type, item type, and control indicator are specified.
d) Document type and item type are specified.
e) Item type, processing priority, and control indicator are specified.
f) Item type and processing priority are specified.
g) Item type and control indicator are specified.
h) Item type is specified.
i) Document type, processing priority, and control indicator are specified.
j) Document type and processing priority are specified.
k) Document type and control indicator are specified.
l) Only the document type is specified.
Warehouse Process Type Determination for Synchronous Goods Receipts
For processes such as manufacturing order confirmation, which leads to a synchronous goods receipt in Inventory Management and in the warehouse, the following process indicators are used for the warehouse process type determination:
004 Receipt of Unpacked Items (Synchronous Goods Movement)
005 Receipt of Packed Items (Synchronous Goods Movement)
006 Receipts of Unpacked Items from Production (Synch. Goods Movement)
007 Receipts of Packed Items from Production (Synch. Goods Movement)
008 Receipt of Unpacked Items from Vendor (Synchronous Goods Movement)
009 Receipt of Packed Items from Vendor (Synchronous Goods Movement)
The warehouse process type is used to determine if the system is to create put-away warehouse tasks automatically with the goods receipt.
Which process indicator is used by the system depends on if the receipt is for a packed or an unpacked item, or if the receipt is for purchase order, manufacturing order, or just any other receipt.
In the case of synchronous goods receipts, the warehouse process type is always determined without a document type, item type, or processing priority.
For receipts from vendor or from production, the system first determines the warehouse process type based on the more specific process indicator, for example, 006 Receipt of Unpacked Items from Production (Synch. Goods Movement) If the system cannot determine a warehouse process type, the system determines the warehouse process type based on the less specific process indicator 004 Receipt of Unpacked Items (Synchronous Goods Movement).
For each of the determinations the table is accessed in the following sequence:
1. The control indicator is specified.
2. The control indicator is not specified.
Warehouse Process Type Determination for Field Logistics Processes
In the context of the scope item Field Logistics Planning and Execution (40G), the following process indicators are used for the warehouse process type determination:
010 Field Logistics Cross-Docking
011 Field Logistics Consolidation of Goods in Holding Area
Which process indicator is used by the system depends on the Field Logistics Process Status of the respective inbound delivery item or outbound delivery order item.
